Serenity Mental Health Centers | Chandler Reviews
If I could give Serenity a 7 star review I would. From the time I walked in to the time I left everyone was so beyond sweet and amazing. It was my first experience back to a psychiatrist in a few years and my experience was wonderful to say the least. Mental health is so important and so is going somewhere where they believe the same and want the best for you. I truly felt welcomed and comfortable at Serenity which is a huge thing when going to somewhere like this.
My psychiatrist is named Dr. Colvin and he is an excellent person to count on for aid with mental health. He has prescribed medicine for me that has worked wonders in my life, and he continues to meet my concerns by providing more medication when needed. Alongside him, the staff is extremely flexible with their availability, and whenever I’ve needed to change a date on the calendar for appointments, they have been swift and generous to meet those needs as well. I’d recommend Serenity to anyone that is struggling to battle the demons in their head; they have changed my life and I know they will do the same for you as well.
For years I have struggled with my mental health and have seen countless doctors. This is the first facility that truly has helped. Dr. Clay and his staff do quick and amazing work. They make you feel heard and make sure to find the proper treatment for you.
Dr. Clay has given me my life, family, and friends back to me. When I first started seeing Dr. Clay, I was so depressed and anxious that I didn’t go out of the house. Dr. Clay’s medical assistant on my first appointment told me that he would never give up on me and he never has. Flash forward to now, and I’m seeing my friends, family, going out to run errands on my own, and even going to see my beloved sister in Colorado March 1st with our daughter. I am SO thankful for Dr. Clay and his team at Serenity Mental Health. They are a huge blessing and I feel so lucky to have found them!
I’ve been going here for about a year and I just want to say this doesn’t feel like a business whatsoever. When you walk in you’re met with such amazing human beings who are there to help you every step of the way through your mental health journey. My provider Dr Colvin is incredible and very understanding and helpful. He tailors my treatment plan to MY needs and listens. I’m doing TMS currently and already see an improvement. The tech I have, Olivia is full of joy and kindness. I look forward to seeing her every appointment. They offer financial aid for different treatments which have absolutely saved my life. Their main priority is to make sure you are healthy and happy, rather than the money. I recommend this place to anyone who would benefit from psychiatric care.

How Is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Diagnosed?
Diagnosing PTSD involves a thorough evaluation by one of our experienced, board-certified psychiatrists. This process generally includes a detailed clinical interview to explore symptoms, personal history, and experiences surrounding the traumatic event. To gain a clearer understanding of symptom severity and frequency, we may also use standardized self-report questionnaires and assess for any other mental health conditions that might be present.
Frequently Asked Questions
How prevalent is post-traumatic stress disorder?
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects millions globally, with an estimated 6-9 percent of people in the United States experiencing it at some point in their lives. The prevalence of PTSD can vary significantly across different populations, with higher rates observed among veterans and first responders due to their frequent exposure to traumatic events. Civilians are also at risk, particularly those who have experienced severe trauma such as physical assaults, natural disasters, accidents, or the sudden loss of a loved one. Increasing awareness and understanding of PTSD have led to better access to treatments and support for those affected.
Do children exhibit PTSD differently than adults?
Yes, children often exhibit PTSD differently than adults, with responses varying based on their age and developmental stage. Younger children might display their distress through behavioral changes like increased clinginess, new fears, or regression to earlier behaviors. School-aged children might face difficulties with schoolwork, sleep disturbances, or heightened anxiety. Adolescents, on the other hand, may engage in risky behaviors, become withdrawn, or experience intense mood swings. Recognizing these age-specific symptoms is crucial for providing appropriate support and interventions tailored to each developmental stage.
What factors influence the likelihood of developing PTSD after trauma?
The likelihood of developing PTSD after experiencing trauma is influenced by a complex interplay of individual, environmental, and social factors. Individuals with a history of mental health issues, prior traumatic experiences, or a genetic predisposition are at a higher risk. The intensity and duration of the traumatic event, as well as the availability of immediate support and the presence of ongoing stress, play significant roles. Personal perceptions of the trauma, such as feelings of helplessness or horror, can also impact susceptibility. Having a strong social support network can mitigate the risk, while a lack of support can increase vulnerability to PTSD.
